Dragon Casts
The purple cast; Bound by pomp and circumstance, a hatchling born into this cast leads a sheltered existence, while being carefully groomed to take his or her place on their respective thrones of power. To be a purple not born to the throne is to choose your own destiny, as no other cast can... But a purple will always be a purple, and the shadow of the crown will always loom overhead. While it is said that no purple can be one of the cursed Gres, the historians remember a time when such things were not quite so unheard of. Whether such times will come again, only the watching moon Enryth can know for certain. The silver cast; Scientists, historians, tamers of the unbound mysterious through logic and study, they hold the keys to the past, and the promises of the future. Astronomers or alchemists, they are revered for their hard work and many hours of study. Though they have Evriliss they look to as all other casts do, even their Evriliss never stop learning... And consider that to be the single greatest privilege of being silver to begin with.
The gold cast; Soldiers of honor, they devote themselves to the protection of their Evriliss and country more than any other cast. Most trusted by the purple, most honored among nearly all other casts, they are their ruler’s right hand, and the first to step forward when danger threatens... As it has in the past, as it has begun to threaten again.
The red cast; Rivals of the gold, they are warriors who consider any means to an end as a reasonable path. Called by many bullies, these hot-headed fighters exist in a society whose acceptance of day to day violence aghasts many others, who might respect the red to their face, but refer to them as barbarians behind their backs. Placed into a role of second defense behind the gold, they are the first to question an order, and wait for the day when their unique brand of fighting will be needed to save their people.
The green cast; Seen by many of the other casts as useless, the green could honestly care less. They are the eternal youths, life in an endless game, and things like war and greed simply don’t factor in on their worlds. Very much still hatchlings who have been granted their wings, they arouse a sense of protectiveness in the very casts who would belittle them. Green play dangerously at times, the risk only enhancing the excitement... And sometimes, don’t have the sense to know when to draw the line.
The blue cast; Gold-pinching is the word most ordered dragons would describe the blue by, but they consider that vastly unfair. They work hard for their gold, merchants and trader-beasts who have few settled bases, spending most of their time collecting goods to offer, at a small profit. Their generation after generation of long-distance flying has bred them to be the fastest dragons on ordered wings, and they take great pride in that. So much so, that they’ve evolved much of their society and breeding around it. Unfortunately, focusing solely on speed has made them small and slight. So what it will come down to is the question of which is more important in a battle, strength, or speed?
The white cast; Priests and priestesses of great renown, they were once the waiting ear for their Great Moon. Always seeking to civilize the other casts, or better themselves, they subject themselves to trying tasks again and again to prove their worth to their great god. But have the powers they once called upon been forgotten by the centuries? Gres all, or utter pretenders... The answer may not be a simple one, but depend on the dragons themselves.
The brown cast; Artists and musicians, they can turn their claw to any tune, and remember through their melodies and tapestries much of what even the scholars of silver have forgotten. The songs of the brown once raised the wind beneath the other dragon’s wings. Now they must settle for lifting their spirits in the hard times to come... Unless they can uncover mysteries forgotten even by their own ancient song.
The black cast; Not as easily defined as the other casts, the black are considered heathens, blasphemers... Or the last of the truly wild dragons. They follow no Order or Evriliss, but consider themselves to be of the free, and remember a time when that was something to be proud of. To survive in the Wilds shunned by other ordered dragons, they have kept the secrets of their magic long after all others chose to turn their back on such savage ways... Including the secret to harnessing fire.
